Summary: Tinify Image Compressor handles your images locally and via the Tinify API. We do not collect, store, or share your personal data or images on our own servers.
1. Data Collection and Usage
The Tinify Image Compressor extension collects and uses data in the following ways:
- Images: When you select images for compression, they are transmitted directly from your browser to the Tinify API (https://api.tinify.com) for processing.
- API Key: Your Tinify API Key is stored locally in your browser's storage (localStorage) to authenticate requests to the Tinify API. It is never sent to any other server.
- Local Storage: Compressed images and temporary data are stored locally in your browser (IndexedDB) to allow you to download them. This data remains on your device.
2. Third-Party Services
We use the Tinify API (provided by Tinify B.V.) to perform image compression. By using this extension, you acknowledge that your images will be processed by Tinify in accordance with their privacy policy.
Please refer to Tinify's Privacy Policy for details on how they handle data.
3. Data Retention
- Extension: We do not retain any of your images or personal data. All processing happens transiently.
- Tinify API: According to Tinify's policy, images uploaded to their API are typically removed after a short period. Please consult their policy for specific retention details.
4. User Control
You have full control over your data:
- You can delete your API Key from the extension at any time by clearing your browser's local storage or reinstalling the extension.
- You can delete compressed images from the extension's interface, which removes them from your local IndexedDB storage.
